Science With Depth Story
My name is Holly Stuart. I am a scientist, educator, and leader in professional development design and delivery for science and STEAM classrooms. When I transitioned from a career as a scientist to a career as a science educator, I learned the hard way that systems and strategies specific to the world of science education were few and far between. Science equipment was hard to come by, and I relied heavily on videos of other people doing science to teach my students. I knew that this was not the best way for my students to learn, appreciate, and understand science.
Science With Depth began with a simple observation: students are taught about science, but they are not given the opportunity to be scientists. When science is seen as a static list of facts rather than a dynamic process of discovery, students do not connect with the content. Science With Depth was created to bridge the gap between expensive equipment and essential inquiry. I believe that by putting authentic tools into the hands of students, we can spark a permanent shift from memorization to true cognitive mastery.
Professional Development That Empowers And Inspires
I deliver hands-on training that gives teachers the confidence to facilitate complex scientific phenomena through strategies that address common pain points experienced in science classrooms. My sessions provide a deep dive into Webb’s Depth of Knowledge, offering practical strategies that make high-level standards accessible to every learner. Each session explores affordable, high-quality science tools—using them both for meaningful data collection and as powerful metaphors for student growth. I don't just inspire educators with new ideas; I empower them with the tangible tools and frameworks necessary to make learning stick.
